My Pinteresting Fortnight (13): Olympics Special

I have never really been a big Olympics person; I remember dancing with my mum in the living to the closing ceremony years and years ago - it is one of my earliest memories! - but I haven't ever really followed the events.

Of course, we haven't been able to escape it this year; for me, the excitement began at the end of June when the Olympic flame made its way to my hometown and myself, DC and his family were lucky enough to get tickets the celebratory event. I then awoke early the next day to see the flame pass my house; it was these events that made me realise that London 2012 really is something very special. I felt so proud and patriotic, and for the first time, felt very excited for the Olympics!

My favourite part of the event has to be the opening ceremony, I genuinely had chills from start to finish - just when you thought the show couldn't get any better, it did! The Queen with James Bond, Mr Bean's appearance, watching the British countryside chance to industry before your eyes but still wondering how it happened, just brilliant.

And Team GB have been absolutely incredible! I definitely agree when people say the nation has been inspired, including myself, and I have a new found appreciation for these sporting heroes.

Now I can not wait for tonight's Closing Ceremony - Spice up your life! - and judging by the excellent planning and organisation, and the smooth running that we have seen so far, I think it is going to be the perfect end to a perfect games. My only regret is not trying to get tickets or not being in London during this time, but from the comfort of my settee, London 2012 has been brilliant.
