But for now, as DC and myself prepare ourselves for a wild night in our comfy pajamas, wrapped in blankets with plenty of Beechams at the ready, I am posting what I consider my top posts of the year - I hope you have enjoyed reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
ENTERTAINMENT: Have you seen The Hunger Games Yet?
When the Hunger Games was released in cinemas waaaay back in March 2012, it created some controversy - I was even shocked at the nature of it! I hadn't read the book and went into the cinema not knowing what was going to happen, but I really did enjoy this film. My local newspaper, the Grimby Telegraph, asked me to write a short opinion piece and so I posted it on The LC Issue in April. Enjoy!
FITNESS: Introducing... Zumba Sentao!
I have been going to Zumba classes for nearly two years now, and back in May my instructor changed it up with the introduction of Zumba Sentao, i.e. zumba with chairs! It's fun but you work hard at the same time. For more info about Sentao, see this post, or to see fellow zumba-ers in action, watch some videos here.
HEALTH: The Activia TLC Plan
In January, I was asked to try the TLC Plan from Activia for three weeks, which meant I had to change my eating plan to something which is more balanced, resulting in a less-bloated, healthier Lindsay. Did it work? You can see in my TLC Plan series....
(Warning! Big head alert!) I have certainly outdone myself when it comes to cooking and baking this year - even if I do say so myself! From homemade potato wedges and chicken friend rice to my Christmas Day desserts, I definitely feel as though my cooking techniques have come a long way - although I have plenty of practice ahead of me, I'm sure. One of my favourites has to be this cake which is so easy to make and tastes delicious - I can't rave about the recipe enough!
The LC Issue had a massive first this year - it's very first giveaway! The lovely folks over at truffleshuffle.co.uk gave a Fydelity Retro Speaker Bag to one lucky winner and I would just like to say a massive thank you again to everybody involved! You can read Part One here and see the giveaway post here.
Unfortunately, DC and I didn't get to have a holiday as such this year, but we had a fantastic year at home what with the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics - 2012 was the year of the Staycation! We visited many local places such as The Deep in Hull and Hubbards Hills in Louth, and one of my favourite places, Elsham Hall. It is a beautiful place, and you should see it for yourself...
EVENT: *Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow!
March has to have been a highlight - I was invited along to the launch of Benefit Cosmetic's first liquid foundation, Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! I still get excited just thinking about this! I travelled to London all by myself - a first for me - and had an absolutely wonderful night!
BEAUTY: Lift Off to Complexion Perfection!
I have been a little slow on the beauty posts in the second half of this year, but my review of the above foundation is still a favourite post of mine. As well as looking at the qualities of the product itself, I shared a couple of application secrets I learned at the launch event.
FASHION: Shine Bright Like A Diamond
This has to be my favourite outfit of the year, a bright pink blouse teamed with a faux leather skater skirt. I wore this for a night out in Cleethorpes and I really did feel good in this; its fun, easy and best of all, comfortable!
PERSONAL: My Little Sandy x
As I mentioned above, I had to say goodbye to somebody very special this year, Sandy. She was our family pet and had been for 14 years (since I was nine years old!) This was just a brief post I published at the time but I wanted to make sure she got a mention - My Little Sandy x.
Whatever you guys are up to tonight, I hope you all have a lovely night and an even better 2013! x
