Coming Soon: The Great Gatsby

Back in June I blogged (ever so briefly) about The Great Gatsby; I had just finished reading the book and was getting excited about the film.

Originally, the movie was to be released on Boxing Day 2012 but unfortuntely, the cinema release date was put back to mid 2013. However, just before Christmas, a new date was announced - 17th May 2013! And of course, with this news came a brand new trailer...

Video sourced from here.

I am so excited for this! The costumes, make-up, settings all look absolutely beautiful!
The film is directed by Baz Lurhmann (the man behind 1996's 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Moulin Rouge') and there are rumours that Jay Z is working on the film's score - Baz certainly does know how to seamlessly combine different eras whilst creating such stunning masterpieces.

But for now, we just have to wait until 17th May... bring it on!

  1. I'm really looking forward to watching this, which is kinda weird because I absolutely hated the book. I studied it for my English A Level, and had to compare it to Catcher in the Rye. I always wonder if I'd read it off my own back so-to-speak I might have enjoyed it more...gotta love education for ruining books :)

But yeah, I think Baz Luhrmann has probably done a fantastic job! Curious to see what Jay-Z (if the rumours are true) will bring to the film!

    1. Ah really?! I did find the book quite difficult to get into at first (I'm not used to reading books from that era) but once the story got going I really enjoyed it!
